The Spierig Brothers

Sequel or Prequel?

The Spierig Brothers

Postby kramersson » November 15th, 2017, 11:52 am

i must say i wasn't familiar with these guys prior to knowing they were the new directors for Jigsaw. so immediately i went and bought Predestination (released in 2015) and i actually liked it because it had a few good twists and obviously Saw is all about twists. so i was hopeful but anyways...

do you guys think they deserve another chance? maybe this time let them actually pen the script to the sequel like what they did with Predestination?

actually did anyone recently watched Predestination just like me, given it was written and directed by those guys?

I personally would, the look of the movie felt great and enjoy their direction but I doubt it will happen if Lionsgate want a sequel within a year. Besides they have a sci-fi project in the works. Shame!

They're busy with a sci-fi project and won't be coming back, at least not for Saw 9 next year.

If I had to make a guess for who could direct the next one, I'd go with David Hackl. I'm actually not 100% sure we're getting a movie next year anymore, however. I've heard conflicting things, for sure. Keep in mind Lionsgate, not Twisted, gets to decide whether the next one is happening or not. They have a deal that allows them to force or stop production of any Saw movie that ends with 9.

It would be cool to have Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan collab with the Spierig brothers to make an awesome sequel

i know most people didn't like Saw V but for me i actually thought it was a good entry. i liked it how in the title card, they used the gold and stuff and made it look a bit more epic and suspenseful. theres other things that i liked but i wont get into it here - i guess the point i want to make is that i wouldnt mind David Hackl directing it again. actually, i wouldn't mind who directs it actually, we only need a good script.
