Great news. Thank you! :D

I never doubted that there would be another film, but it's great to finally have an official confirmation. I'm also happy that Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger are back. I loved how they added a lot more humor to the last film while still keeping the atmosphere of Saw.

That being said, I wonder who will direct the next film. Personally, I'd really like to see Ben Nott as the director, as he already worked on Jigsaw and was responsible for its new visual direction.

I think you can bet the director will be another franchise newcomer. Just a hunch!

Really great news! Great time to be a Saw fan. :)

I'm curious about the director and the official movie title ( JIIgsaw, Jigsaw 2, Saw 9 ). Saw 9 won't be the official name, considering that we didn't get Saw 7 ( called Saw 3D ) and Saw 8 ( called Jigsaw ).

Someone made a post about the producer's commentary where they say Ben Nott ( Jigsaw's director of photography ) could be considered to direct a Saw movie someday. Perhaps that's the moment, I guess.

I guess release date is next year.

I'm also curious about their marketing campaign this time around. If it'll be like the marketing of Jigsaw, they'll probably reveal the director(s) at some point in summer this year, with the first trailer coming about one year later. God, the waiting time is going to be painful...

Hey, I can still remember reading Jigsaw was officially confirmed February 2016 on Bloody Disgusting at my desk at an old shitty job. This will fly by before you know it.

Stolberg is denying the BloodyDisgusting article. He's claiming that if a ninth one is in development then he and Goldfinger have not been approached to write it and he knows nothing about it. Then again, perhaps he's not allowed to confirm it if Lionsgate themselves aren't ready to announce it.

Actually, he said he can't confirm anything. He didn't deny it.

I guess a sequel is meant to be confirmed by the studio and producers, not by the writer. :)

He is playing coy, but that's normal. I can't blame him.

Pete and I have NOT been hired to write a new Saw film.

I'm sure he's bullshitting but he is denying it.
