Yeah, I hope it turns out good. And I have very far from a complete picture. But it sure sounds luke it retreads a lot.

I don't get it...What does that mean?

Is the script not that good? Is the film getting delayed? No director yet? What's going on? XD

The script details I was told do not sound as promising as I would like. The movie sounds less surprising than a new Saw movie would need to be, in my view.

And yeah, it is delayed to October 2020. They have a potential director, most likely. Not signed yet. Someone who directed one of the previous ones. Script is being tweaked / reworked again. Sounds like they’re rehashing an idea.

Hmm less surprising, so just another sequel maybe? Or retconning/ignoring previous films in an underwhelming way?

Someone who directed one of the previous ones...Hummm...

Wan directed only the first movie

Bousmann directed Saw 2,3 and 4

Kevin Greutert directed Saw 6 and 3D

David Hackl directed only a movie ( Saw 5 ) like Wan.

Don't tell me Hackl is being considered. I think Saw 5 was very weak and most of Saw 3D stuff was his idea. I don't know if that's the case.

Hmm, it’s obviously not gonna be James Wan.

I might be wrong, but I believe Darren Bousman would only accept an offer if he were able to write the film as well. Kevin Greutert was the editor of Jigsaw, so he is still very attached to the franchise so maybe it could be him? I don’t know, Saw 3D didn’t really work well for him as he was assigned last minute, though I believe he could do a great job if given a bit more control of the script.

I’m a little sceptical of David Hackl compared to someone like Bousman, but he has been with the series for a long time. He will know how to create the classic Saw atmosphere - something that sounds like it is desired - as opposed to someone new

It's not just another sequel, think of it like another reboot. Tobin Bell being in it a lot, Logan being gone / not used in the capacity he was meant to be, the story not requiring having seen the previous ones, etc.

But to make that happen, they seem to potentially be taking a fairly predictable / safe route. It doesn't sound like they have the big idea I thought they might've had. That might be why the script is still in the works, and might be why they have / had trouble finding a director.

Also, I wouldn't read too much into who the director is. It's work for hire, they don't get input into the script anymore. That changed after Saw VI.
